Two Daughters
I felt blessed when God gave
me two daughters--it seemed
a divine feeling like some form
of miracle had occurred, and
just for me..
There is nothing as rewarding as
little arms stretching out, little
mouths smiling, and little eyes
sparkling, little minds asking
Daddy for help.
I sensed their frustrations and
their growing pains, kissed their
boo boos, held them in my arms
when they were afraid in the night,
and got butterfly kisses in return.
How wonderful to show them flowers,
animals, the changing leaves, the
butterflies, the fireflies, all of nature's
wonders, and to teach them integrity
and to care for others.
How good it felt to hold them in my
arms-- to quiet their fears, to give
them the protection in the middle of
the night that made them feel safe
from all harm.
I loved to boast of their achievements
and show one and all the photographs
of my two daughters. There had to be
something sublime in their giving
me such intense pleasure in life..
As I reminisce in my golden years, I
know one thing, unequivocally, that
from birth to the present, I have always
loved my two daughters from the bottom
of my heart, for now and for all time.
