British pop
singer Kim Wilde was born in London and began singing professionally
while in college. In 1980 she joined RAK Records,
who released her debut single, "Kid's In America," in 1981. It was a
big success and reached No. 2 in the UK and top 30 in the
U.S., selling over two million copies worldwide.
She released three more albums, "Select", "Catch As Catch Can",
"Teases and Dares", and moved to MCA. "You Keep Me Hanging On" reached
No. 1 in the U.S. in 1988. "Love Moves" found her moving towards a
sexier pop image, which was continued in 1992's "Love is" and 1995's
"Love Is Forever." In 1999 she put her singing career behind her to
appear in various television productions.
