Love Is Forever
All was silent on the
beautiful lake,
Except for the distant cry of a loon,
And we lay on the velvet, green grass
Beneath the light of a silvery moon.
I loved the sweet touch of her hand,
And the smell of lilacs in her hair,
As her vibrant eyes looked into mine,
There were glittering stars everywhere.
The joy that I felt just to hold her,
And know she would always be mine,
By the love that we had for each other,
I knew she was mine for all time.
Hand in hand we walked into the lake,
And waded, and splashed, in dim light;
We were born again, under the stars,
On this so wonderful, beautiful, night!
In closeness, as one, we proved our love,
And promised there would not be another,
We sealed with a kiss this night divine,
And pledged eternal love to each other.
We were engaged after our night of love,
And our marriage followed soon after,
For years our house was filled with joy,
With children, with love, and with laughter.
The angels came quietly in the darkness,
Then quickly, without pain, took my love,
I know in my heart, God opened his arms,
And welcomed her to the heavens above.
Now as I sit by the lake with my memories,
Of a night of passion and promise and love,
I can sense and feel her presence beside me,
And I know she awaits me, so far up above.
When we married we promised, together forever,
That we would be as one until death us do part,
And Until we meet at that final appointment,
I will keep her safe in the depths of my heart.
